Jane is an experienced and compassionate therapist offering a wide range of psychotherapy services, with a special focus on trauma-related issues. She works with individuals of all ages, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each client.

What is EMDR therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy has been firmly established as a leading trauma therapy, as well as mental health treatment. It is an 8-phase therapy which includes stages for planning, emotional preparation, reducing distress of old traumas, and supports you to make new positive beliefs. EMDR utilises 'bilateral stimulation' and in your session we may utilise left-right eye movements, self-administred tapping on the body, or holding 'buzzies' 

Jane offers a unique, organic approach to online and in-person clients, integrating parts work, and somatic/body practices, which is particular helpful for CPTSD and attachment trauma.

Jane is an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and a member of the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA). Her expertise in EMDR enables her to support individuals in processing traumatic experiences, fostering emotional healing, and enhancing overall well-being.

Re-experiencing Symptoms:

Avoidance/Numbing Symptoms:

  • Efforts to avoid trauma-related thoughts and feelings (e.g., alcohol or drug use)
  • Efforts to avoid trauma-related activities, places, or people
  • Forgetting or dulling trauma-related memories
  • Feeling detached or estranged from relationships
  • Restricted range of emotions (inability or reluctance to feel)
  • Sense of a foreshortened future (feeling as though life will be cut short or lacks purpose)

Hyper-arousal Symptoms:

  • Insomnia

  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Hyper-vigilance (being constantly on guard)
  • Exaggerated startle response

What We Will Never Do in Therapy:

  • Push you in a direction you are unwilling to go.
